PNG Development Strategic Plan (PNGDSP) 2010-2030

Goal

A high quality of life for all Papua New Guineans

Vision

Papua New Guinea will be a prosperous middle-income country by 2030

The Papua New Guinea Development Strategic Plan (PNGDSP) 2010-2030 is a 20-year long term development blueprint for the country. It sets long term goals and targets that will guide development planning and importantly, will set the priorities for development expenditure. It has translated the Five Directive Principles of the National Constitution, the Eight Point Improvement Plan and the Vision 2050 so that the aspirations of our leaders can be achieved through the annual planning, programming and budgetary processes.

PNGDSP does three things. First, it outlines where PNG is at now; second, it provides targets of where PNG will be at in 2030; and third, it outlines how PNG will get to its 2030 targets.

PNGDSP 2010-2030 will be implemented through four five year Medium Term Development Plans (MTDPs). The PNGDSP and the four Medium Term Development Plans will mobilise domestic resources, dictate expenditure priorities, spell out intended outcomes and will provide clear targets.

Sustainable Development Goals

The Strategy for Responsible Sustainable Development (StaRS) is aimed at redefining the development road map by prescribing a growth strategy that is built on the principles of green growth and sustainable development – a new growth strategy where greater economic growth is built on renewable resources rather than extractive activities with priority placed on preserving the environment and sustainably using it by adding economic value to it.  It promotes the principles of inclusive economic and social growth, inclusive environmental conservation, and innovation that integrate the considerations of the three spheres of growth – economy, social and environment as factors of equal value and importance.
